Hello! My
name is Marissa Marrapese and it is my 5th year in college but I am
a junior here at FGCU. I was born and raised in a small town in Rhode Island. I
moved to Florida right after I graduated high school in 2007 to continue my
education. I could not have known it at
the time, but moving to Florida was the best decision that I had ever made.
Even though I was over a thousand miles away from the only home I’d ever known,
I made leaving worth it. Initially, I planned to attend Edison State College
majoring in Elementary Education, but after realizing the various career paths
I never considered, I stumbled upon a few that I thought may interest me, but
nothing ever seemed to suit me. It wasn’t until I was four classes away from
attaining my Associates Degree that I realized the degree I was working
towards, wasn’t the one that I wanted. I returned to my initial plan and
attended Edison State College and began working towards my degree in Elementary
Education. After obtaining my Associate’s Degree, I transferred to Florida Gulf
Coast University, where I am currently in Block 3 of the Elementary Education
program and will begin interning in both the Fall and Spring semesters.
